Dog statue Shiba Inu in bronze Lying down – full of character
The Shiba Inu is a dog that leaves a lasting impression. Small yet proud, with an alert gaze and a noble bearing. For a special commission, Brigitte was asked to immortalize this Japanese breed in a bronze sculpture: a dog lying down, relaxed, but with its head turned to the side as if watching the world with quiet attentiveness.
Traditional cire-perdue method.
The process began with a carefully modeled form in wax or clay, capturing the posture and expression in every line. The piece was then cast in bronze using the traditional cire-perdue method. This age-old technique ensures that even the finest details remain – from the taut muscles to the subtle texture of the coat.
Independent nature of the Shiba Inu.
The choice of a reclining pose emphasizes the calm yet independent nature of the Shiba Inu. While the body rests, the sideways glance reveals alertness and curiosity – qualities that make this breed so distinctive.
A permanent tribute to a beloved companion.
For the owner, the sculpture became a tangible keepsake, a permanent tribute to a beloved companion. For Brigitte, it was an honor to create a piece that reflects not only the outward beauty but also the inner spirit of the Shiba Inu. “A lying dog may appear calm, but in its eyes you see its entire personality. That’s what I wanted to capture,” she explains.
